The DAX 40 tracks the 40 largest and most liquid companies listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is the primary benchmark for the German stock market.

Methodology

The index is free-float market capitalization weighted and includes the largest companies traded on the Frankfurt exchange.

The DAX 40 was launched in 1988 and is provided by Deutsche Börse.
